DiMaggio began his career in engineering management, including feeder networking, hub and systems planning and package operations planning. As both a district and region manager, he directed industrial engineering recruiting and staffing and helped to create the UPS Industrial Engineering Leadership School.

Prior to joining UPS Worldwide Logistics in April 1995, DiMaggio held key positions in UPS Corporate Marketing for five years, as vice president for air marketing and as vice president for international marketing.
