Entering the grocery market on a large scale was a Greatwide task.

In the early 1990s, a major retailer had a goal, and they knew all the obstacles that stood in the way. They set out to enter the competitive market of retail grocery on a large scale. But their own fleet of trucks already had more than enough products to deliver, and how could a third-party carrier help them maintain their world-class reputation?

The retailer decided to try Greatwide Dedicated Transport at one grocery distribution center. Eventually, Greatwide would become their biggest third-party grocery carrier, growing to serve 13 distribution centers.

Every DC was a brand-new start-up. Indeed, Greatwide was even called upon to open three centers in three different states in three months - two on the same day. These were no small start-ups; each started with at least 100 trucks. All began with 100% service to their stores, with all the required trucks in place, all drivers and operations personnel trained and on the job. All of the DCs remain in constant contact with Greatwide's proprietary multi-DC touring technology.

Greatwide now devotes more than 1,800 trucks to this retailer, making more than 1,000,000 deliveries every year at a 99.8% on-time rate. However, Greatwide can flex even beyond those impressive statistics, offering surge capacity and such unprecedented responsiveness as the ability to help the retailer deliver hurricane relief.

With that kind of success, it's obvious that no task is too great for Greatwide.
