The global leader in pallet and container pooling services, CHEP collects, conditions and issues over 280 million pallets per year. They serve a wide range of industrial and retail customers, and their needs grow and change constantly due to market conditions.

In 1994, CHEP looked to Greatwide Distribution Logistics for simple pallet storage and distribution. Soon after, their needs became a little more complex. They asked Greatwide Distribution Logistics to help them consolidate their repair and warehousing vendors, while maintaining quality and lowering costs. As an asset-light, full-service 3PL source, Greatwide Distribution Logistics was able to quickly respond. Our solution of adding repair and redistribution services created efficiencies for costs as well as operations.

Later, as part of their Lean Manufacturing process initiative, CHEP partnered with Greatwide Distribution Logistics to conduct several Kaizen events. Through training sessions followed by systematic analysis and rearrangement of production lines or processes, Kaizen events aim to improve business efficiency and drive out waste from any given work procedure. The result for CHEP was a more streamlined and efficient business operation.

What began as a simple solution to pallet storage and distribution has developed into a close collaboration with CHEP as their business grows and changes. Today, Greatwide Distribution Logistics operates seven CHEP full-service centers, stand-alone facilities dedicated to receiving, shipping, inspecting and refurbishing pallets. Another four Total Pallet Management operations are located on-site at the facilities of CHEP's customers, working directly to perform inspection and immediate replenishment services.

CHEP has entrusted us with some of their most valuable customers, including Procter & Gamble, PepsiCo, SYSCO, Kellogg's, Shell, Kraft, Nestle, The Home Depot, Tesco, Unilever, and Hewlett Packard. Handling over 20 percent of their pallets every year, Greatwide Distribution Logistics is one of CHEP's primary vendors in North America.

As CHEP's needs have increased throughout the years, Greatwide Distribution Logistics has helped them find solutions, improve processes and provide savings of nearly $500,000 in the last year alone. We continue to invest in engineering assessments that could yield even greater cost savings in the future.
