Greatwide Logistics Services Acquires Southpoint Distributing, Inc.

June 14, 2006

Greatwide Logistics Services announced today that the firm has acquired Southpoint Distributing, Inc., a privately held, dedicated contract carriage company. Based in Winter Haven, Florida and Auburn, Georgia, Southpoint provides dedicated contract carriage services from grocery distribution centers to retail supermarkets. The acquisition will immediately provide Greatwide with a significant increase in geographic coverage and services within the southeastern United States, a top priority in the company’s growth plans.

“The addition of Southpoint to the Greatwide family is an example of our commitment to provide expanded services and new solutions to our Dedicated Transport customers,” said Ray Greer, President and CEO of Greatwide Logistics Services.

Founded in 1984 by Jack Johns, Southpoint Distributing reported revenues in excess of $50 million in 2005 and is experiencing substantial growth in 2006.  With 275 employees, Southpoint lists Publix Super Markets as its largest customer.  Publix is the largest and fastest growing employee-owned supermarket chain in the United States.    The founder's sons, Doug Johns and Jeff Johns will remain active in the company in a senior management capacity.

“The Southpoint team provides an exceptional level of industry expertise,” said Greer.  “Their retail delivery knowledge, their leadership and demonstrated high quality standards are tremendous assets for Greatwide and its customers.”

“Greatwide is a company with an incredible amount of potential and a great vision for growth,” said Jeff Johns, vice president of Southpoint.  “Their management practices, commitment to customer service and strategic plan were impressive to us.  Our becoming part of the Greatwide organization offers tremendous advantages for our employees and our clients.”

The operations of Southpoint will be integrated into those of Greatwide’s Dedicated Transport segment, one of four primary lines of business in which the company operates.  Other Greatwide business groups include Distribution Logistics, Truckload Management and Truckload Brokerage.
