Greatwide Logistics Services Executive Honored By American Society of Transportation & Logistics

March 23, 2006

Richard Metzler, Chief Commercial Officer for Greatwide Logistics Services, has been named a Distinguished Logistics Professional (DLP) member by the American Society of Transportation & Logistics (AST&L).

To be recognized as a DLP, an individual must have over twenty years experience in the field of transportation/logistics as well and have made a significant contribution to the industry. The AST&L believes that it its duty is to recognize unique, upper echelon of logistics professionals who have shown their mastery through significant and career-long contributions. Individuals must be recommended to and approved by the AST&L Board of Directors.

AST&L is a professional organization founded in 1946 by a group of industry leaders to insure a high level of professionalism and promote continuing education in the field of transportation and logistics. The organization also offers a Certified in Transportation and Logistics Certification Program, which began in 1948, to candidates who demonstrate their understanding of the fundamentals of the profession through the successful completion of six exam modules. In 2002, AST&L affiliated with The National Industrial Transportation League (NITL) to further enhance the education component for the organization and its members.

“I am both proud and honored to be named a Distinguished Logistics Professional by the American Society of Transportation & Logistics,” says Metzler. “The AST&L does tremendous work for the advancement of the logistics industry and I support them whole-heartedly.”

“I am delighted to welcome Dick Metzler to the prestigious distinction of top industry leaders as a Distinguished Logistics Professional,” says Laurie Hein Denham, Executive Director of AST&L. “His contributions to the logistics industry are exceptional.”
