WHO: Greatwide Logistics Services and North Texas Food Bank

WHAT: Greatwide will deliver food from a drive held at the company and at neighboring company IMC2 to the North Texas Food Bank, providing an additional 5,000 meals for Metroplex area families who otherwise would do without food during the holiday season. The delivery will be made using a newly-branded 53' Greatwide trailer.

WHERE: Loading at Greatwide Logistics Services corporate headquarters, 12404 Park Central Blvd (loading dock is on the southeast side of the building, accessible off of Churchill Way) - building is approximately ½ mile W of US-75 (Central Exwy.)

Unloading at North Texas Food Bank, 4500 S. Cockrell Hill Road, Dallas - located south of the intersection of W. Ledbetter, S. Walton Walker and Cockrell Hill Rd.

WHY: According to a November 2007 news release from the U.S. Department of Agriculture, Texas and New Mexico lead the nation with the highest rates of childhood food insecurity.

From July through October this year, demand from North Texas Food Bank
member agencies was up 17 percent, while food donations were up only 6 percent during that same time.

While Greatwide has been recognized locally by the North Texas Food Bank and nationally by America's Second Harvest for the company's provision of logistics support and promotion of the cause, the company wanted to back its national technical support role with actual food contributions at Thanksgiving. Individual Greatwide departments actively competed to see which groups would make the largest contributions, clearing a number of shelves at various local grocery stores.
